Overview:-

Torna Fort, it is also known as Prachandagad, is a huge post situated in Pune area, in the Indian province of Maharashtra. It is generally noteworthy on the grounds that it was the main fortress caught by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1646, at 16 years old, framing the core of the Maratha domain. The slope has a height of 1,403 meters (4,603 ft) above ocean level, making it the most astounding slope stronghold in the locale. The name gets from Prachanda (Marathi for colossal or enormous) and gad (Marathi for fort).[1]

History:-
This fortification is accepted to have been developed by the Shaiva Panth, adherents of the Hindu god Shiva, in the thirteenth century. A Menghai Devi sanctuary, additionally alluded to as the Tornaji sanctuary, is arranged close to the passage of the stronghold.

In 1646, King Shivaji caught this fortress at sixteen years old, along these lines making it one of the primary strongholds that would wind up one of the fortifications of the Maratha realm. Ruler Shivaji renamed the post ' 'Torna' ' as Prachandagad, and built a few landmarks and towers inside it.

In the eighteenth century, the Mughal realm quickly dealt with this fortification after death of King Shivaji's child ruler Sambhaji. Aurangzeb, the then Mughal ruler, renamed this stronghold Futulgaib in acknowledgment of the troublesome barrier the Mughals needed to defeat to catch this fortress. It was reestablished to the Maratha alliance by the Treaty of Purandar.
